Zero-based Budgeting

What is a zero-based budget? Why should we adopt a zero-based budget?



(All numbers used in this post are for the purpose of explaining a zero-based budget and have no basis in the reality of our current system.)



In short, a zero-based budget means that as a school system, we start with our needs. For example, we aim to staff K-2 at 18 students to 1 teacher. If our expected enrollment for kindergarten is 52, we would expect that we would need 3 teachers (52/18=2.89). We… Continue
